How do I submit stories?

If you have not already done so, please register for an account. Once you've logged in, click on Account Information and choose Add Story.  The form presented there will allow you to submit your story.

What are the ratings used on the site?

We use the ratings system from www.fictionratings.com.

What are the story classifications?

Stories are classified by categories, genres, and warnings.

How do I add a  story?

  1. Log in your account
  2. Click on 'Account Info' on the top menu
  3. Click on 'Add New Story' on the User Account Page Menu that should have appeared after step 2
  4. At least glance at the submission rules...The story should involve Sam/Jack. Correct ratings are mandatory...the program won't work correctly otherwise
  5. Fill in the title
  6. Fill in the summary, either by typing it in or pasting it in ( via the W or T icons)..
  7. Try to run a spellcheck on the summary by clicking the spellcheck icon ( the hook with the letters)
  8. Choose one or more categories by selecting them from the drop down list and clicking select...if you make a mistake, hit clear and start again
  9. Select the warnings
  10. Select the characters and the genre
  11. Select the ratings
  12. Add author's notes if you feel like it
  13. Then comes the fun part...your fiction.. you can then
  14. a. Paste the text from a word document via the (W) icon
  15. b. Paste the text from a text document via the (T) icon
  16. c. Load the document from a text file if you wrote it with a true text editor
  17. d. If you wrote your story with MS-Word and want to upload it...save it as Text ( and choose the DOS text...not the default)...then upload it
  18. Try running the spellcheck on the story...
  19. Click on 'Add Story'...
  20. You're now a published author...Laughing

 

What are the warnings for ?

We try to have a lot of different kind of S/J stories...but not everyone will like everything..and some of them should be read only by adults. So we have warnings to give a heads up about content that follks might object to, this way if they choose to read it...they can't complain about it. Some of the warnings are pretty obvious, others need a little explaining

  1. Character Death : If you decide to kill off a character...try to tell us ahead of time. Character death stories are not for everyone. And if you decide to kill ANY of the SG-1 team members ( especially Jack or Sam...that qualifies as a Major Character Death..)
  2. Major Character Death : Any time Jack, Sam, Daniel , Teal'c ...and yes even Cam or Vala :-) dies...
